My Favorite Artists - Stephen Fabian

I am a long time fan of today's feature artist, Stephen Fabian.  I was first introduced to his work in the Manual of the Planes, as I'm sure many of you were.  His pieces for the Fire and Earth Planes were personal favorites. He's also created much of the art in the Ravenloft line, with his gothic pieces beautifully illustrating the dark, somber setting.

Stephen no longer does interviews but he graciously offered to send several of his pieces to be displayed here on my blog, and I am grateful!  Stephen was the recipient of the World Fantasy Award for Life Achievement in 2006, he is also a two time nominee for the Hugo Award for Best Fan Artist (1970 & 1971) and a seven time nominee for the Hugo Award for Best Professional Artist (1975-1981).

Make sure that you check out his website, www.stephenfabian.com where he hosts approximately five hundred pieces!  There are a number of Conan illustrations there as well including my favorite The Tower of the Elephant 4.  All of the pieces have details and comments by the artist.  Its a really fantastic site, I would suggest everyone check it out!  Thanks again to Mr. Fabian for his fantastic work, we here at the Drunk Umber Hulk hope to see many more great pieces from you in the future!
